Introducing our brand new bump key option: the STEEL Schlage SC20 "Super Duper Bump" Key.

While our line of "Super Bump" keys has proven incredibly popular with field teams who want to reduce the overall number of keys they carry around, one fact is undeniable: multi-section blanks that can pass into a wide variety of keyways are often narrower than conventional keys and this can, in some instances, make the resulting bump keys more fragile.  Now, to be fair, our brass SC20 Super Bump keys are issued and used in Red Team Alliance trainings year after year and only a handful are ever damaged during class.  (And, yes, 90% of the time... it's a Marine ⚓??)

If held correctly and struck directly (not from the side) all of our bump keys, including our brass SC20 Super Bump, should hold up just fine through multiple uses.  That said, we recognize that not everyone has the luxury of perfectly calm and slow approach to a target and not everyone is operating under perfect and smooth conditions when making entry.  This can be a particular challenge for first responders, who are often attempting to gain entry under time pressure or while wearing PPE like turnout gear or bunker gear.  While in the most exigent of circumstances, it's typical for such folk to turn to the irons, a battering ram, or a breaching round... sometimes these teams do want to take an extra 30 to 60 seconds and attempt a non-destructive tactic like manipulation or bypassing or, yes, bumping a lock.

We wanted to offer a more robust bump key that could survive even the roughest handling by individuals who may be operating under stress or under challenging physical conditions.  Hence: the "Super Duper Bump" key was born.

This key is dimensionally identical to our brass SC20 Schlage Super Bump key, but it happens to be made out of steel for superior strength and durability.  The production of this key comes at considerable higher cost to us (not only are the blanks harder to source at a reasonable price, but we also have to adjust the feeds and speeds of our milling tools when machining these keys) however we have done everything we can to keep costs as reasonable as possible for you.  And when you do the math, for the price of less than three of our brass SC20 bump keys (which, if you're a firefighter or a paramedic or downrange in uniform, you might break in the field) you can own this steel SC20 bump key which will last you darn near forever!

Bump keys sold by Red Team Tools are produced to our unique specification based around code-cutting each bitting position slightly deeper than the maximum factory depth.  Furthermore, this is a specially-modified Schlage SC20 blank that goes beyond the traditional bump key design.  By adding an additional "phantom" cut out at a hypothetical 7th bitting position, the tip of this key does not have the often-seen "shark tooth" peak which can interfere with certain bumping techniques.

Because this key is generated on the L profile SC20 blank, it can pass into all of Schlage's standard obverse keyways, from C through E, F, and G, including the other sub divisions of CE, EF, and FG.

Additionally, our Schlage "Super" Bump Key has additional cutting and milling done on both the key blade as well as the underside shoulder up into the bow itself... making more room for the use of our Bump Key Bands which both assist with the attack process and also prevent obvious damage to the front face of the lock being opened.

Red Team Tools recommends that you always use at least one Bump Key Band when employing this style of modified Bump Key.  In certain circumstances, especially in cases where only a 5-pin cylinder is being approached, it may be best to 2 of those bump-assisting rubber padding rings up around the collar of the key, just below the bow.

This Steel Schlage SC20 "Super Duper" Bump Key includes two of our Bump Key Bands for free.  Additional bags of Bump Key Bands are listed separately.
